Five Easy Steps to Create Your First Photo Stamp
Creating a PhotoStamp® is not difficult but until you’ve done it, you won’t be sure of what’s involved. Here are five easy steps that will walk you through the process, and actually step #2 is totally optional!
1. Choose one or more photos.
Look around on your computer’s hard drive and find some photographs that you might like to use for aPhotoStamp®. I suggest choosing at least two, because sometimes when I upload one, I notice that it doesn’t really work that well at the small size the postage will be. It’s also fun to have more than one ready, in case you might want to order more than one design at a time.
2. In your computer, with photo editing software, modify the photo if you want to.
As I mentioned, this step is optional. You’ll be able to do more modifying in step #4, but if you have chosen a really large file, you might want to crop it so that it will upload faster. You might like to change the colors in a picture, eliminate red eye, combine two images, or otherwise play with your software.
3. Online, go to Stamps.com and upload the photo.
They make this part easy, with clear directions. You will have to find the file on your computer in order to upload it. If you aren’t sure which one it is in a list of files, in Windows you can change a list of filenames to display as thumbnails by clicking on the “View” icon above the filenames.
4. Modify the photo with their online software.
This part is fun. You can move your picture around until it’s placed just as you want it. If you want the image to be larger, you can zoom in on the picture. They also have the option to zoom out. You can flip or rotate the picture too.
Your PhotoStamp® will have a border around it, and the default color is black. You can click through a variety of over a dozen colors and see which one you like best.
If for any reason you don’t like how your PhotoStamp® is turning out, just upload a different photo and play around with it.
5. Place your order and pay.
At this step, you will be able to choose whether you want postcard postage, first class, or any of five other denominations, all in United States postage. You will decide also how many items you want; there is a minimum order of 20 of any one design and denomination. Payment is through a secure server and credit card, and is very safe. You will also be able to choose how fast you want your postage done for you, with added charges for the faster methods.
That’s all there is to it! You will get your PhotoStamp® set in the mail shortly!
